It looks like they’re doing things a little differently this time around. I believe all the camps came to the Nagasaki area last year for orientation, but my group at least is heading straight to Nagoya. Looks like I won’t get any forseeable time in Nagasaki this time around.

There is an upside to being completely cut off from an area you’re used to: it forces you to go out and explore. Kyoto is near Nagoya, as is Tokyo, and Nagoya is no small city itself. I don’t much care for Tokyo, but there’s some parts I’d like to see yet. Maybe I’ll even get to see the Sumo tournaments again.

While writing this, I received another piece of information from Guy Healy, Japan, this time a little about the homestays:

In addition, there are 3 homestay sessions during your stay and you might change your host family each time.

Whoa! Only three stays? I think we had about 10 or so last year, all short though. It makes me wonder how long the camp sessions and the homestay sessions (when we have them) will be.

As I’ve said before, there’s no telling what to expect until you get there.
