I wanted to see the kanji being lit in Kyoto, but we had to leave before that. Maybe next year! In the meantime, I look forward to seeing your pictures.

Obon in Nagasaki sounds really neat! I asked Yukiko about it and she said that the Obon Festival in Nagasaki is famouse thoughout Japan for its fireworks, and tabun the boats too. For me, I was lucky enough to be in Kyoto for its Oban event “Daimonji” where they light huge kanji of fire on various mountains sides surrounding Kyoto. The kanji are huge! I was able to take some pictures of them, but it was difficult because it was dark, and I’ll be posting them on my site soon.

Heh. I guess you are out of the loop, being in Japan and all, but I’m currently in Japan too Sean. I’m arrived in Kyoto on Aug. 14 and I’ll be meeting my girlfriend on Aug 16. I just missed you in Kyoto. Actually, Jason said that you would be in Kyoto while I was, and both he and I thought it would be very funny if I had by chance ran into you in Kyoto. =P I’m heading back to P-ville on Aug. 26 out of KIX. FYI. Well, talk to you later.

Yea, the typhoon was pretty bad from what I hear. We were more than a little worried that we would catch up with the typhoon in Tokyo, but it didn’t really hit the area, so we lucked out.

I had heard on the news that their was a typhoon over in Japan. I think 12 dead or something. The news said Hokkaido received the worst of it. Sounds like you’ve met a ton of people while you’ve been over there.

The JET program, to me, is an excellent way to explore life in Japan without the commitment of actually moving. It only lasts one year, maybe two, and you can always choose to find a permanent job there or return to America to find something. The JET program would look great on a resume too.

Jet sounds like fun to me, now I only need to apply and graduate. =P
